Hola Queens,
I know, I know it’s been a while since I post a hair update regarding my hair. Well, as you can see this is my 2.5 hair check. The bottom 3 was during my first of being natural and the top 2 was taken this month July 2015. My hair has grown so much. I have tried so many different products. …. That is another story. Here is a list of products I use during my first year,
*I co-washed twice a week with AS I Am co-wash cleanser.
* After cowash I Deep condition with any Deep Conditioner I get my hands on. ex. panaTen natural as one it’s about $3.oo at your local WalMart. I would leave my conditioner in for 45 mins-1hour or even longer depends on my day. The best part about having a TWA is the products are cheap and it don’t take much to do your hair and add a bow or something. (look at the bottom right )
*after I washed out the conditioner I add oil My to go oil is olive oil, coconut oil and JBCO( Jamaican Black Castor Oil) it’s thick brown oil with a not so pleasant smell. But queens let me tell you it’s magic. Esp for our edges and ends.
* with my TWA I only did wash&Go’s. NOTE: If you consider the BIG CHOP I would strongly suggest to big chop in the warm months. It will be better to learn how to care for your hair while sticking to wash-Go’s. And who wants a walk out the house with a damp head of hair in the late fall and winter. uuugghhh Not a good idea.
* Keep your head shaped and a little-tapered look would be a nice add. (check out picture bottom left and middle. The bottom right is the picture when my hair started to grow out and it’s a Fresh wash&go.
The longer your hair get the more products you want to buy and try. Now it takes 2 to 3 hours for me to wash, DC and style my hair. But it’s well worth it. I hear a lot of complaints regarding the hair products retail price and the prices can get expensive. But that’s ok especially if it doesn’t add up what I was spending at the salon waiting hours, starving and tipping both your stylist and shampoo girl. You can add that price together multiply that by how many visits you make at the salon and I promise you the number will scare you. Let’s use my numbers. I’m saving $200.00 monthly $2,400 yearly. Now, I do not want to discourage anyone from going to the salons. I still visit the salon but only twice a year for my trim and silk press, which is the only time I apply heat to my hair. P.s I went to Hair Cuttery and it only cost me 40.
